Summary: scp/ssh hangs
Product: Portable OpenSSH
Version: 3.1p1
Platform: ix86
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: scp
AssignedTo: openssh-unix-dev at mindrot.org
ReportedBy: zheyang at cis.upenn.edu
CC: zheyang at cis.upenn.edu
The program "scp" hangs invariably on large files (mine is 18M in
length). This
behavior is observed with SSH version 3.1p1 under both Windows XP platform and
Linux [OpenSSH_3.1p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090602f].
The sshd server is running on SunOS 5.8 (solaris). I don't know its
version,
but the accompanying ssh program shows
"SSH version 1.2.32 [sparc-sun-solaris2.7], protocol version 1.5".
I think that streaming under "ssh" doesn't work either: for
example,
X-connection hangs up after a while (Xfree86 on Windows).
Adding "-oProtocol=1" makes everything work.
I tried OpenSSH 3.0.2p1 on Windows 2000 professional with the same sshd server
and copying large file causes no hanging problem.
This bug seems to be related to bug #124, reported by John Brown for the AIX
platform.
