xen discuss - Feb 2006 - [xen-discuss] OpenSolaris for Xen finally out the door..

Well, it''s a little later than we had hoped, but we''ve finally
put the OpenSolaris for Xen 3.0 source out at:
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/

It''s a first pass and still rather incomplete (domU only, no 64 bit, no
MP, etc) but we wanted to release something to allow early experience with it,
rather waiting for a totally finished port.

I tried twice to download it; it finished about 65 out of 68 MB and stopped.

Is something wrong there?

Ian, this worked for me (from outside Sun).  Could you try it again
and let us know how you get on?

Maybe we should create a torrent source for the tarball...

I had a go at this, please try:

This is my first attempt at "hosting" a torrent, so there may be
mistakes, please let me know if anyone tries to use it, either
successfully or otherwise.

running presently, so switching to a 32-bit hypervisor is out of the

I thought 32bit guests were supposed to run fine on 64bit Xen?

My understanding (I could be wrong) is that you can run a 64-bit DomU 
kernel with a 32-bit userland in cases such as Linux where the DomU 
kernel has appropriate support, but that the DomU kernel still must 
match the hypervisor.

Several of us on the team have done a download to home
machines to verify that it works. And I just tried again
successfully. Perhaps you hit a temporary network glitch
of some kind. I suggest giving it another try.

We''re very actively working on 64 bit domU and expect to have it
working very
soon. 

The domain Os''s have to match Xen (ie. 64 bit domains on 64 bit Xen, 32
bit PAE domains on 32 bit PAE Xen, 32 bit domains on 32 bit Xen). However, 32
bit user processes will run just fine under the Solaris 64 bit domain, just ast
they do on 64
bit Solaris w/o Xen.
