[Ocfs2-users] o2cb_ctl: Unable to access cluster service Cannot initialize cluster
Hi, I've tried to run ocfs2 on debian stable (sarge). Have patched and compiled a new kernel-package using vanilla 2.6.14 sources. No compiler errors, all modules for ocfs2 builded. Installed the Debian packages ocfs2-tools_1.0.0-1_i386.deb and ocfs2console_1.0.0-1_i386.deb without any problems. But now I can't initialize the cluster, whether through ocfs2console or with /etc/init.d/o2cb. dbserv:/# cat /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf cluster: node_count = 1 name = JUWIMM node: ip_port = 7777 ip_address = 10.0.0.36 number = 0 name = dbserv.juwimm.local cluster = JUWIMM dbserv:/# /etc/init.d/o2cb load Loading module "configfs": OK Mounting configfs filesystem at /config: OK Loading module "ocfs2_nodemanager": OK Loading module "ocfs2_dlm": OK Loading module "ocfs2_dlmfs": OK Mounting ocfs2_dlmfs filesystem at /dlm: OK dbserv:/# /etc/init.d/o2cb online JUWIMM Starting cluster JUWIMM: Failed o2cb_ctl: Unable to access cluster service Cannot initialize cluster Stopping cluster JUWIMM: Failed o2cb_ctl: Unable to access cluster service Cannot initialize cluster dmesg: OCFS2 Node Manager 1.3.0 OCFS2 DLM 1.3.0 OCFS2 DLMFS 1.3.0 OCFS2 User DLM kernel interface loaded lsmod Module Size Used by ocfs2_dlmfs 24072 1 ocfs2_dlm 158340 1 ocfs2_dlmfs ocfs2_nodemanager 142840 2 ocfs2_dlmfs,ocfs2_dlm configfs 27148 2 ocfs2_nodemanager syslog: Nov 7 13:02:24 dbserv kernel: OCFS2 Node Manager 1.3.0 Nov 7 13:02:24 dbserv kernel: OCFS2 DLM 1.3.0 Nov 7 13:02:24 dbserv kernel: OCFS2 DLMFS 1.3.0 Nov 7 13:02:24 dbserv kernel: OCFS2 User DLM kernel interface loaded ocfs2console: o2cb_ctl: Unable to access cluster service Cannot initialize cluster Could not create cluster ocfs2 why is ofcs2console trying to set up cluster "ocfs2" instead of "JUWIMM" ? that's all :( Any suggestions? After 8 hours off fiddling around to get more debug information, I'm running out of ideas... regards, Dirk -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Ocfs2-users] o2cb_ctl: Unable to access cluster service Cannot initialize cluster

You need the latest ocfs2-tools. Hmm, and we have no source/debian packages for that on the website. You can check out the latest code from Subversion and build .debs. But we really should have source sometime soon.> ocfs2console: > o2cb_ctl: Unable to access cluster service Cannot initialize cluster > Could not create cluster ocfs2 > > why is ofcs2console trying to set up cluster "ocfs2" instead of "JUWIMM" ?Because ocfs2console trusts itself to be the final arbiter of the configuration. If you created your cluster via ocfs2console, it would have been named ocfs2. Instead, you created it by hand. You can still use ocfs2console for all tasks other than modifying the cluster configuration. Just use /etc/init.d/o2cb yourself to control cluster start/stop.
