I followed the information from this link - http://blog.mansonthomas.com/2008/10/setting-up-ups-link-with-ubuntu-server.html to establish the ups link with ubuntu server. Upon usb connection with the computer, the ups shows this information: ~$ upsc openups at localhost Can not connect to localhost in SSL, continue uncrypted battery.capacity: 100 battery.charge: 47 battery.charge.low: 5 battery.charge.warning: 20 battery.current: 0.000 battery.mfr.date: Mini-Box.Com battery.runtime: 96840 battery.type: PBSO4-LiFePO battery.voltage: 0.00 device.mfr: Mini-Box.Com device.model: OPEN-UPS device.serial: PBSO4-LiFePO device.type: ups driver.name: usbhid-ups driver.parameter.pollfreq: 30 driver.parameter.pollinterval: 2 driver.parameter.port: auto??? ---> for USB connection driver.version: 2.6.5 driver.version.data: openUPS HID 0.1 driver.version.internal: 0.37 ups.mfr: Mini-Box.Com ups.model: OPEN-UPS ups.productid: d004 ups.serial: PBSO4-LiFePO ups.status: OB DISCHRG ups.vendorid: 04d8 Why can't I connect to localhost in SSL? In the Windows driver provided by the ups manufaturer many more information, such as temperature and others, are provided, but not by the Network UPS tools. So, it is clearsome of the capabilities of the ups are not portrayed by NUT. Why is this so? Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I've CC'd Nicu. Nicu: it would probably be good to mark the mini-box packages with some version number suffix that identifies that this is not exactly the 2.6.5 release of NUT. I recommend modifying the version in configure.in, since that will propagate to driver.version, but you can also add something to OPENUPS_HID_VERSION in drivers/openups-hid.c.> Why can't I connect to localhost in SSL?SSL support is being reworked at the moment, and we haven't released a new version of NUT yet (the package you are using is based on a developer snapshot). However, you probably don't need SSL if you are not connecting over a network.> In the Windows driver provided by the ups manufaturer many more information, such as temperature and others, are provided, but not by the Network UPS tools. So, it is clear some of the capabilities of the ups are not portrayed by NUT. Why is this so?The two potential reasons are the age of the package (addressed above), and the firmware on the UPS. -- Charles Lepple clepple at gmail
