[Nouveau] [Bug 17999] New: HIgh memory and cpu use
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17999 Summary: HIgh memory and cpu use Product: xorg Version: unspecified Platform: x86 (IA32) OS/Version: Linux (All) Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Driver/nouveau AssignedTo: nouveau at lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: ubuntu at talktalk.net QAContact: xorg-team at lists.x.org Created an attachment (id=19552) --> (http://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=19552) oprofile text Hi - had problems getting nouveau to install, recent updates through ubuntu intrepid repository (ppa) to 1:0.0.0~git20081009-0~ppa1 Have problems with high cpu use using nouveau particularly when changing desktops, using fluxbox as window manager. Seems to use a lot of memory at start - free -m buffers up from ~120MB to ~650Mb on start. Only difference being the nouveau driver. Have tried to use oprofile to get data - not sure if it's right or even if it helps. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17999 Jesse Adkins <jesserayadkins at gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID --- Comment #1 from Jesse Adkins <jesserayadkins at gmail.com> 2010-10-31 18:13:08 PDT --- Unfortunately, there's nothing useful within the oprofile output. If you're serious about trying to track down the cause of CPU usage, I would suggest trying to see if one of the X apps can result in a CPU usage spike. Even better, if you have a small program to show a problem. For example, if you have some benchmarks over a series of time that show the driver operating worse after a particular version. That would allow the maintainers to revert whatever change caused increased CPU + mem use. If you get something more concrete, feel free to open a new bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug.
