We maintain kernel patches for vanilla and Red Hat kernels for ia32, a vanilla kernel for ia-64, and a SuSE kernel for x86-64. I wish we could provide patches for every combination of every kernel, but it''s just way too much work. We can only afford to support the kernels that our customers run. You should be able to run a vanilla or Red Hat kernel on your SuSE system without any trouble.> After not being able to build it from Source i thought i could patch the > kernel, but i dont know > which patch i should use, since Suse kernels are always a bit different > from the standard ones. > Where do i find a version of quilt for Suse? I hope that you can make do with the vanilla or Red Hat kernels. Hope that helps-- -Phil

[Lustre-discuss] Problems with Lustre on Suse Linux Professional 8.2
Hi, i am trying to install Lustre on a Cluster with Suse Linux 8.2 Professional, kernel 2.4.20. I downloaded the sourcecode and tried to build the kernel , but i only got some error messages and the build didnt finish. Ive been told that this might be because the sourcecode is meant to be build for Redhat Linux systems, Suse always distributes a modified kernel and thats why it doesnt work. Am i doing something wrong or do i have to donwload a specific Lustre version (i downloaded the version from the How To page) ? After not being able to build it from Source i thought i could patch the kernel, but i dont know which patch i should use, since Suse kernels are always a bit different from the standard ones. Where do i find a version of quilt for Suse? I have only seen Redhat packages on your FTP page and i cant find it on theWWW. Markus
