[Lustre-discuss] directory- or maybe pool-based quotas?
Are there any plans for (or is it already possible to have) quotas that only affect part of the filesystem rather than the whole thing (e.g., AFS''s volumes)? Thanks, Brent

Hi Brent, This has crossed my mind from time to time. AFS style filesets (volumes) are in our roadmap. But the quota model for AFS volumes is not a user / group quota but volume level quota. Is that what you''d be looking for? - Peter -> -----Original Message----- > From: lustre-discuss-bounces@clusterfs.com > [mailto:lustre-discuss-bounces@clusterfs.com] On Behalf Of > Brent A Nelson > Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 10:40 AM > To: lustre-discuss@clusterfs.com > Subject: [Lustre-discuss] directory- or maybe pool-based quotas? > > Are there any plans for (or is it already possible to have) > quotas that only affect part of the filesystem rather than > the whole thing (e.g., AFS''s volumes)? > > Thanks, > > Brent > > _______________________________________________ > Lustre-discuss mailing list > Lustre-discuss@clusterfs.com > https://mail.clusterfs.com/mailman/listinfo/lustre-discuss

It''s just a shame to split a filesystem off of the main pool of OSTs just so that quotas don''t affect everything else. It would be nicer to be able to have one giant filesystem... Thanks, Brent
