I don't really have strong feelings about this, but I also don't have
time
to play with it right now. Perhaps others can help you out.

This one isn't good. In particular, making this change causes warnings to
due to passing constant strings to a function that takes char*. Is there
any way you can update your bison to a more recent version? I'm using
1.35 and it seems to work fine.
If that's not possible you can just hack your bison.simple file to include
the right prototype, or set up some way of postprocessing the output of
bison after it's generated (perl script?).
