Hi, We use Icecast 2.4.4 on debian 9 and Centos 7. How can we see if Icecast use multicores? Best regards, Michel -- -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/icecast/attachments/20190306/dc2eba1e/attachment.html>
Almost a few years ago, Icecast don't was designed to use Multicore, around 7 years ago, the branch of KH was rewrited to use mutliple cores/threads, I run on production many years with more than 30k concurrent users into the same mountpoint using 12 cores El mié., 6 de mar. de 2019 a la(s) 17:29, Michel van Dop (mvandop at xs4all.nl) escribió:> Hi, > > We use Icecast 2.4.4 on debian 9 and Centos 7. The slightly longer answer: Icecast uses one thread per source plus some auxiliary threads. You much more likely run out of network connection than CPU power. Distributing threads to CPUs and their cores is in the domain of the operating system. Note to the list: Icecast's threading model is irrelevant for most stations, that is stations with less than, let's say, 10k concurrent listeners. If you have more listeners you should seek the help of a professional anyway.
