[Gluster-users] Can you re-ip servers in a gluster brick without breaking it?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 Howdy, We need to re-ip the servers that make up a gluster volume. Unfortunately when they were setup I was stupid and did not use hostnames and instead specified each brick in the volume by ip. Ex 10.103.114.4:/exports/DATA 10.103.114.5:/exports/DATA ... 10.103.114.X:/exports/DATA Can I just stop gluster services on every server, search/replace the contents of /var/lib/glusterd/vols and /var/lib/glusterd/peers, then restart everything? My fear is the hostname (IP) is important to something in DHT or the metadata written to the bricks xattrs. - -- Raymond Powell Systems Administrator Laboratory for Advanced Computing University of Chicago, KCBD 10160 900 East 57th Street Chicago, IL 60637 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG/MacGPG2 v2.0.19 (Darwin) Comment: GPGTools - http://gpgtools.org Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQIcBAEBCgAGBQJSN2x7AAoJEBIjAczqLCW8q8AQAInuTtDfLQ3Z45yXp2akdIvr pjVhY0SRRb6OZeU6IHd5v5V7UCc38IhuII4q09pC9t0lIPJWacCOdMM8gbohIg+V FXse39lDkTEUV7sd0IzozMMizJDZVRFwFBEvJmyLRG2JIHdM7QKs4hvOKobs3n7l zCGBnR5G2VXO7znpLllpMCMQ1ove9j925+tL78P21qo0Qjeci6gTrkjcLCMujiwv wyKt1QerCB3zkDGpB2y+lHQM9B1vUHnx4wvGx1LswcvJhzbwvkv7Q+Vn+aTiO0qZ e1ytjj119y2vIiS+EtQWo/EDFtJYlTBuxGonYuS0mVknZDPjRLq24EUXUJjK+djb NumcS/9aFUxEwqcmXNNvCBYep6awTJrgFWBKVqNPFFJ+JtFiu9UIlcp/70Df0vky HHOWeAy3ZA5TKf8/B6duKT5Iyw47e+WBwsq7mVWZ2Lfy4knjMHp/Bd/l5ubiJcX7 kjL+X6wLKMFtCuRBx32Fz1ORsSBv0ihCIIIpInun3FYZv9sGaq+KxcvkUS+35Kv9 p7/AL/dxwvRGlNk+k7msY4o5gOYs2xQpqeV+kQuUcYuQZMjUn9Cf3KofTVZHR+nv zv0cOYcmPJN5MrZzNUyfYuLOf8ZbAjQXZ8u7bNoWWhS+cUtR1epdmbHjq7dyBhl5 kmmanSZvPalUWeshOxx6 =AXou -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

The procedure that you refer to should work. Make sure that you have a backup of /var/lib/glusterd on each node before you attempt this :-). -Vijay
