Hi all, i have install freebsd 5.3 stable on compaq p3 633 and i have some problems with it. I do nat for a network with 800 users with ipnat and i use device polling and my network interfaces are : fxp (intel) kern.polling.burst: 24 kern.polling.each_burst: 50 kern.polling.burst_max: 150 kern.polling.idle_poll: 0 kern.polling.poll_in_trap: 1 kern.polling.user_frac: 50 kern.polling.reg_frac: 20 kern.polling.short_ticks: 0 kern.polling.lost_polls: 11093211 kern.polling.pending_polls: 0 kern.polling.residual_burst: 0 kern.polling.handlers: 3 kern.polling.enable: 1 kern.polling.phase: 0 kern.polling.suspect: 3964467 kern.polling.stalled: 0 kern.polling.idlepoll_sleeping: 1 in the same time i have a scsi controler on that machine and 1 hdd scsi on vmstat -i : interrupt total rate irq22: sym0 793796 2 irq23: fxp0 1 0 irq30: fxp1 1 0 irq31: fxp2 1 0 irq1: atkbd0 4 0 irq6: fdc0 8 0 irq8: rtc 38518980 128 irq14: ata0 31 0 irq15: ata1 3 0 irq0: clk 601377783 1998 Total 640690608 2129 but on top : CPU states: 25.3% user, 0.0% nice, 56.4% system, 46.3% interrupt, 0.0% idle my question is: why 46.3% interrupt , i don't see with vmstat -i any device use interrupt so many
