Dear all, Just an announcement about the recent visible activity in the Xiph QuickTime Components project. Version 0.1.5 is out. The most important new feature in this release, besides Intel Mac compatibility and a number of bug fixes, is support (decoding) for another two formats from the Xiph family: FLAC and Theora. The Theora decoder is actually very recent work, but that's probably even more of a reason to release it, hoping for a feedback from those who have access to the right platforms to test it. More detailed information is available on the project's web-pages: http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/release_notes.html Regards, Arek

I understand that streaming OGG files in iTunes is not supported (and that it is iTunes fault). Is there any chance it will be supported someday? Because I just setup an MT-DAAPD server at home so my family can listen to my tunes as well, but since most of it is Vorbis, their iTunes won't play it. -- Daniel -- http://www.despite.ch/ -- http://www.npfdd.ch/ Make sure your E-mail can be read by everyone! http://www.betips.net/etc/evilmail.html Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/no-word-attachments.html -- An ounce of mother is worth a ton of priest. -- Spanish proverb
wow, very cool. is there a technical hurdle to native FLAC support? this is something I could set aside time to help out with. Josh __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

So far, I only added support for FLAC streams in Ogg importer. And for the native FLAC support a separate component needs to be written. This is actually a good opportunity to use Core Audio api for that, as it should offer some benefits over the QuickTime MovieImporter approach (and the API is more intuitive, as well). So, the only problem is: me/somebody/probably-me needs to find some time to write it. :) Arek
