I'm running KDE on C7, so why would I have a gnome-shell process spending rather a lot of its time in D mode? -- Michael hennebry at web.cs.ndsu.NoDak.edu "Sorry but your password must contain an uppercase letter, a number, a haiku, a gang sign, a heiroglyph, and the blood of a virgin." -- someeecards

When browsing through text. I often see multiply repeated lines or lines with only small pieces nonblank. -- Michael hennebry at web.cs.ndsu.NoDak.edu "Sorry but your password must contain an uppercase letter, a number, a haiku, a gang sign, a heiroglyph, and the blood of a virgin." -- someeecards

The GDM login screen runs a gnome-shell as part of the login interface. Not sure why it's in the D state (uninterruptible sleep) but that's most likely the source of the process. -- Jonathan Billings <billings at negate.org>
