One I noticed was "Free BSD, 2009" all 857 pages present - in Russian. Another is a 2005 Linux PDF book in Russian. No copyright on his photos including long empty roads, sunlight, countryside and an occasional motor vehicle. For example http://sferon.dlinkddns.com/Pub/Brevet_400km_3.05.2014/P1010009.JPG of in the countryside http://sferon.dlinkddns.com/Pub/Images_krepostnaya/Krepostnaja.jpeg I really liked and appreciated the filming perspective (position) in the Italian video http://sferon.dlinkddns.com/Pub/%D0%94%D0%BE%D0%BA%D1%83%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0% BD%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B5/BdB%20-%20Ventimiglia%20-% 20Monviso.mpeg So there is little to fear from the web site of a Russian cyclist who likes Linux. Although I would have preferred him to like Centos more than Debian. -- Regards, Paul. England, EU. Je suis Charlie.

Do you know of an ethically available reference on the System Administration topic?

It has nothing whatsoever to do with "software" piracy.> So there is little to fear from the web site of a Russian cyclist who > likes Linux.I don't even fully trust docs written by any third party until I can cross-check it against official documentation. So I definitely do not think it's okay to trust pirated documentation from a Russian site I will never be able to know anything about. --keith -- kkeller at wombat.san-francisco.ca.us

My original reference _IS_ ethically available. The paper born copy of the book can be bought, say, on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Linux-System-Administration-Handbook-Edition/dp/0131480057 What was bashed in successive posts was pirate copy of the same book hosted somewhere in Russia. Whereas it is strongly advisable to stay away from pirate copy, this fact should not reflect of real book itself. Buying real book is by no means unethical. Still, there are many knowledgeable people on the list, they may give different recommendation, which will create some pool of choices. I asked John and Jonathan, I'd like to ask also Les Mikesell and Mr. SilverTip257: what would you, gentlemen, recommend? Anybody? Amazing how quickly security fundamentals ? like declining to download a file which can contain scripts that run on the local machine from a clearly dodgy site ? go out the window when put up against expediency.

And cost, quite likely (even though it is better than affordable). That really suggests the need to learn fundamentals (I would put in order: Unix or Linux system basics first; system security second). Flash I don't have or use. 2. PDFs can be created by *NON-ADOBE* software. PDF's (well most of them) can be opened by non-Adobe PDF-type software. 3. The Russian's web site is that of a devote cyclist. Most of the films on his web site are of cycling or about cycling. Most of the oldish PDF files are about Linux and in Russian. I do not consider his site presents a malicious danger to me. Warren, it is senseless you wasting your valuable time trying to make me do what you want. The system here just does not work like that - perhaps elsewhere but certainly not here. -- Regards, Paul. England, EU. Je suis Charlie.
