CentOS - Sep 2005 - centos 4.1 gnome desktop default 3 icons

I am wanting to remove the 3 default icons on the gnome desktop.
the computer, the users home, and the trashcan icon. How do I do that?

You can either disable nautilus, or you can fire up gconf-editor and go
to apps > nautilus > desktop and uncheck
"computer_icon_visible",
"home_icon_visible", and "trash_icon_visible".
