CentOS - Jan 2005 - rpm db

Hi All,

I wonder if someone can help. My rpm db was corrupted.

So I ran  rm -f __db* followed  rpm rebuild db which ran OK. But I keep 
getting the following error.

error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
warning: kernel-source-2.4.21-20.0.1.EL.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key 
ID 025e513b
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm

Have you upgraded the rpm package since your last reboot? ... sometimes
after an rpm upgrade, I have to restart my machine.

that sounds like you don't have permission to read the rpm db.  Are you sure
that you are running as root or that you didn't change the permissions on 
/var/lib/rpm?

i believe a server re-install is required....ive done that before, what you
did and i had to re-install....yet there might be a way to salvage it but im 
not exactly sure the proper way

i believe when i did it...i didnt get such warning message...but oh well no big 
deal...ive learned my lesson....
