Problems with par() and labels with boxplot
Quite a simple one really!
When I run boxplot(), the labels on the X axis are horizontal, and I
want them vertical. So I did:
par(las=3)
boxplot(...)
And my labels just aren't there anymore....

resolving names it is really slow slow with CentOS5.x using named
Hi all,
I have a problem using named with different CentOS5 servers (2 servers): all
they are really slow to resolv any internet address and most of time fails to
resolv. This situation differs if I use "forwarders" servers like opendns:
resolving names it is really really quickly. And I don't understand why.
On the other hand I have tested three DNS servers using Windows 2003,...

Really, really loud ringers
Anyone have some recommended equipment for alerting people to calls in a noisy environment?
I have Polycom IP550 phones set up in some really noisy environments - our mine hoists - and they tend to drown out the ringers. I'm using Clarity WR100s now. They're analog devices, attached to Linksys PAP2T ATAs as part of a call group to get a loud (advertised as 95dB) ring out there, but it still could be louder. Maybe a light-up op...

[LLVMdev] bug in ilist_node::getPrevNode() ?
Hi all,
I stumbled over a problem in ilist_node::getPrevNode(). It crashes when invoked for the first element in a list.
It's because the Prev pointer of a first list element does not point to the sentinel but is just null.
First question: Is this really a bug or am I doing something wrong?
Second question: If it is a bug, what should be the correct behaviour? Either change insert() to let Prev of the first element really point to the sentinel or just change getPrevNode()?
I don't really need getPrevNode() because I can also use iterators but...

Intel/64 CentOS VM running on a Mac M1?
My Dell Precision M3800 running Fedora works great but is really starting to

would really be useful for Video production.
But I really need to have a IA64 CentOS 7/8 VMs running locally for

While I'm generally really excited by this, I would ask for a bit more
staging of this change.
Specifically, I would really like for a single, clear switch to enable
exactly what you want benchmark data on *before* it becomes the default,
and to give various folks time to run benchmarks and report serious
regressions.

Trolling aside (fascist? really?), I've gotten valuable feedback from
several people which I really appreciate. I intend to continue to
engage with the CentOS community, because when we work on big changes
in Fedora which may come to our downstream distributions, it's really
useful to have constructive feedback from serio...

Tell me why my Shoutcase handler sucks!
...My current system is a hacked together mess.
So, I want to build a unified ruby based solution. No, I''m not going
to try to replace Icecast with a hacked pure ruby version, but I am
going to try to setup a proxy for DJs to connect to where I can manage
every small bit.
To do all that, I really have to understand how Icecast works. So, I
hacked together a mongrel handler that can accept broadcasting clients
and send the stream to listeners... except I don''t really know what
I''m doing. So, I would appreciate it if you could look over the code
and tell me why it sucks and...

Linux distro + Asterisk or Trixbox?
Hey all,
I've been doing a lot of playing, and a lot of reading, and it seems
people are split as to whereas if they're running their favorite Linux
distro and asterisk or Trixbox. I'm getting closer to really looking at
a production environment and I'm just looking for any opinions. I'm
really enjoying learning linux and asterisk, so initial "ease of use"
isn't really a huge benefit to me. In the end stability and
upgradeability will be my main concerns.
Thanks in advance,
