asterisk users - Jan 2007 - Announce option for meetme - is it used?

Announce option for meetme - is it used?

It makes a caller record their name, but I do not see where this name recording
is ever used.

It is played to the conference/meetme room prior to the user entering, at
least in our setup it works. The caller does not here their own
announcement.

It used when you have enabled the option to announce joining new 
participants your meetme room.
It would play recorded name to others who are connected to that room.
