Hello list, I know this has been brought up before but I dont think there was ever a final answer. Is it legal in the US to modify asterisk to show the CID information that was received as blocked ? Thanks. Dovid p.s. Sorry for the poor typing format, it was written from a mobile phone. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! If it is blocked how are you 'getting it' If it is ANI over an 800 number then you as the person paying for the call have the 'right' to use this information.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of > Dovid Bender > Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2006 9:39 PM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] OT: Unblocking bloced CID > > Hello list, I know this has been brought up before but I dont > think there was ever a final answer. You wont (or shouldn't) get it on a PRI or POTS. If you have an 800 number, or otherwise received it as part of the ANI info for billing, then it is illegal to unblock it, if fact AFAIK these are the *only* regulations from the FCC regulating callerid: 1. It cannot be unblocked if the user requested to be blocked. 2. If you receive it because you have an 800 number, you are not allowed to use it for anything else (read marketing) but billing. Well for one thing, on a PRI it is usually still transmitted with a bit set that tells the system to hide it. -Jonathan -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Alexander Lopez Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2006 9:49 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] OT: Unblocking bloced CID If it is blocked how are you 'getting it' If it is ANI over an 800 number then you as the person paying for the call have the 'right' to use this information.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of > Dovid Bender > Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2006 9:39 PM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] OT: Unblocking bloced CID > > Hello list, I know this has been brought up before but I dont > think there was ever a final answer. Well, whether I SHOULD get it or not may be totally irrelevant to whether I CAN or DO get it. The caller ID info is most definitely there and it shows up in my CDR records. However, it is not displayed on the device because only the number is allowed on our PRI. -Jonathan -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of C F Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2006 10:01 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] OT: Unblocking bloced CID On 3/16/06, Jonathan k.
