After tinkering with a hand-knitted extensions.conf based on "Asterisk - TFOT", I've now set up a server with Asterisk@Home and am experimenting with it. I'd appreciated any advice from the more experienced list members about which way to proceed. We (my wife and I) have two separate micro-businesses with two POTS lines plus fax. I'd like to have inbound calls on the two lines give different ring tones (so the right person can jump to their feet to answer, rather than both of us), and perhaps set up different attendant messages, as well as having our office phones pick the right line for outward calls. Our environment is currently Asterisk@Home 2.5, plus 2 x Snom 360, 2 x Snom 320 and one Grandstream GXP-2000. It looks to me as though Asterisk@Home gives a lot of functionality for not much initial effort, but I can't see any way to achieve what I want through AMP. Would I be better off going back to a hand-knitted extensions.conf, and if I do, am I right in assuming that the approach I need to take is two separate contexts - one for each business? Or can AMP hack this application? Best, --- Les Bell [http://www.lesbell.com.au]
Cant speak for AMP as I am no expert on it, in fact I don't use it. You can do all that you want and MORE with 'hand-knitted' configuraton files.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Les Bell > Sent: Wednesday, February 08, 2006 8:27 PM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Two Lines, Two Businesses > > After tinkering with a hand-knitted extensions.conf based on > "Asterisk - TFOT", I've now set up a server with > Asterisk@Home and am experimenting with it. I'm presuming that a hand-knitted extensions.conf, with separate contexts for the two trunks and two businesses is the right approach - would someone stop me, please, if I'm wrong? ;) Best, --- Les Bell, RHCE, CISSP [http://www.lesbell.com.au]
You will not be going down the worng path with that kind of thinking. Remember to use separtate contexts for each company and to place each phone (SIP) is a context related to that company, So that outgoing calls use the right line.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Les Bell > Sent: Thursday, February 09, 2006 1:29 AM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Two Lines, Two Businesses > > > "Alexander Lopez" <alex.lopez@opsys.com> wrote: > > >> > You can do all that you want and MORE with 'hand-knitted' > configuraton files. > << > > That's what I figured; I was really wondering whether AMP > would specifically *prevent* that kind of configuration. > > I'm presuming that a hand-knitted extensions.conf, with > separate contexts for the two trunks and two businesses is > the right approach - would someone stop me, please, if I'm wrong? ;) > > Best, > > --- Les Bell, RHCE, CISSP > [http://www.lesbell.com.au] > > > _______________________________________________ > --Bandwidth and Colocation provided by Easynews.com -- > > Asterisk-Users mailing list > To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users >
