asterisk users - Jan 2006 - spandsp for 1.2.1 - libspandsp.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I am getting the following error when starting:

 

loader.c:325 __load_resource: libspandsp.so.0: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory

loader.c:499 load_modules: Loading module app_txfax.so failed!

 

When I load app_txfax.so and/or app_txfax.so; if these are commented
out, asterisk starts fine.

 

I downloaded the spandsp version from
http://soft-switch.org/downloads/spandsp/spandsp-0.0.2pre21c/asterisk-1.
2.x/ and have Asterisk SVN-branch-1.2-r7470M.

 

I changed the Makefile as instructed and added the following lines to
/usr/src/asterisk-1.2/apps/makefile

 

ifneq ($(wildcard $(CROSS_COMPILE_TARGET)/usr/local/include/spandsp.h
$(CROSS_COMPILE_TARGET)/usr/include/spandsp.h),)

APPS+=app_rxfax.so app_txfax.so

endif

 

app_rxfax.so: app_rxfax.o

        $(CC) $(SOLINK) -o $@ $<  -lspandsp -ltiff

 

app_txfax.so: app_txfax.o

        $(CC) $(SOLINK) -o $@ $<  -lspandsp -ltiff

 

I then did the make cleans, makes and make installs as necessary for
both spandsp and asterisk

 

If I add the following to my Modules.conf

 

load => app_txfax.so

load => app_txfax.so

 

I get the above error. 

 

The app_rxfax.so and app_txfax.so are in /usr/lib/asterisk/modules. The
libspandsp is in /usr/local/lib:

Any idea / help would be GREATLY appreciated. I've been searching and
searching and trying and trying. Thanks!
