It should be relegated to higher debug status, IMO since it's just informational. Stale nonces occur when the far side tries to reregister with credentials that asterisk has expired. Asterisk sends back a "no thanks" and the far side starts a full registration process. To "cure" it you need to get Asterisk and your SIP device agreeing on how long a nonce is good for. As I'm not a SIP expert I'll defer to voip-info.org. -A.
Did this happen to you when you upgraded to 1.2-Beta1? Do you have an Audiocodes device? Just to recap this, I'm now having this problem also. The only difference being, Asterisk is always returning a 401 unauthorized back to the UA and thus the registration never completes. Nothing I do fixes it, what's worse is other then watching debug (and sip show peer blah, naturally) reflects absolutely no errors. -- snippet of debug -- Dec 15 12:17:46 NOTICE[26076]: chan_sip.c:6275 check_auth: stale nonce received from '<sip:+19136801008@floyd.netlogic.net>' Transmitting (NAT) to 66.166.222.59:5060: SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized .. Snip .. Would this suggest a UA problem? Did the obvious, and rebooted it.
