Hi All - I noticed that the Polycom IP501's are now shipping. Has anyone gotten one yet, and if so, what's different about the phone? Any UI improvements, or is it just better hardware? Thanks, Noah
The only difference is IP501 has 4M flash versus the 2M flash in the IP500.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of > Noah Miller > Sent: Thursday, 26 May 2005 3:08 AM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Polycom IP501 > > Hi All - > > I noticed that the Polycom IP501's are now shipping. My understanding is that the biggest difference is ssl for the web interface. https :)> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of > Noah Miller > Sent: Wednesday, May 25, 2005 1:08 PM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Polycom IP501 > > Hi All - > > I noticed that the Polycom IP501's are now shipping. That probably means you can store more addressbook entries locally (instead of on a server), store more ringtones or images. More importantly, it supports booting from HTTPS or FTPS, and the IP500 does not. That's about it. Nothing else is different. At least according to everything I can find in the release notes.
I have several of the IP-500's and will be getting the 501's in the future. If anyone out there has a 501 in production, please check the Status value in the "SIP SHOW PEERS" command. My polycoms are all over 95 ms even on a LAN! I'm hoping they did a little more than just add flash and https/sftp.
