I have downloaded and installed (make, make install and make progdocs)asterisk on my personal computer and when i try to run it (./asterisk -vvvc) i get the following output below: NOTE: i am running REDHAT 9.0 on a 796MHz cpu machine: I am excited to be able to work with asterisk and i look forward to using it extensively. Thank u all in advance Cheers Edward ***************************START_ASTERISK_OUTPUT******************** [root@columbia asterisk-1.0.5]# ./asterisk -vvvc == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf': Not found (No such file or directory) == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/extconfig.conf': Not found (No such file or directory) Asterisk 1.0.5, Copyright (C) 1999-2004 Digium. You don't have any configuration files. You need to "make samples". Then modify the config files to suit your needs. Is there a folder named /etc/asterisk? If not, make one(I'm not sure if the next command would do it itself), and then from your asterisk source directory, do: make samples That should get rid of most of the errors. From there you should read everything you can on these sites: http://www.voip-info.org/ http://www.asteriskdocs.org/ -- Andrew Thompson http://aktzero.com/ http://dev.asteriskdocs.org/
