Hello This might not be a 'pure' * question, but it is relevant to general VOIP technology. I tried x-lite on my notebook with wireless connection(802.11). The software has been tested with the fixed line connection. It worked fine to call through *. When using wireless connection, it is clear on my side using notebook; however, there is loud noise on the other side of the call which uses IPphone. It seems to me that some interference noise comes into the upstream. Does anyone notice the same problem? or have explanation of the cause? regards, steven
If you're using the condenser mic on the notebook, the noise might be from your fan. That little quiet fan is a real load when it is placed 2 inches from the microphone, especially, if AGC is enabled. Some sound cards have settings that allow you to disable automatic gain control (AGC). /ed -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of Steven Wang Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 11:45 AM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: [Asterisk-Users] x-lite with wireless connection Hello This might not be a 'pure' * question, but it is relevant to general VOIP technology. I've used FireFly with my wireless connection countless times w/ no call quality issues. I've generally found FireFly to be much better than X-Lite in sound quality and simplicity. Have you tried FireFly? I'm using a Dell Inspiron 9100 w/ the 802.11a/b/g internal mini-pci network card on various 802.11g networks, I think I've used FireFly on an 802.11b networks as well. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Steven Wang Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 11:45 AM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: [Asterisk-Users] x-lite with wireless connection Hello This might not be a 'pure' * question, but it is relevant to general VOIP technology. I have used the X-Lite client on my laptop connected wirelessly. I just used it at 1/4 miles to my AP, 3 miles to its feed, and 6.25 miles to the Asterisk server with no issues other than latency. I believe your issue is hardware related. --- Kelly D Griffin Network Engineer Tantella Wireless http://tantella.com 479.273.9992 Voice 479.464.8998 Fax -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Steven Wang Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 10:45 AM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: [Asterisk-Users] x-lite with wireless connection Hello This might not be a 'pure' * question, but it is relevant to general VOIP technology.
