Hello, I am wondering if anyone is using the Nortel 2001 2002 or 2004 phones on their asterisk implementation. My local dealer says they are not compatible with any open source implementations. Is there a phone compatibility list somewhere? Cheers Cian

The I2004 for sure (the original one, I understand there are distinct versions) would run just a protocol known as Unistim (you may say is like the Skinny protocll for a cisco phone). [], <O-O>

There is currently no way for Asterisk to directly support these phones unless: a) Nortel releases a standards-complaint firmware image, or b) somebody is able to write UNISTIM compatibility into Asterisk. Nortel claims that these phones are SIP/H.323 compliant, but if you read the fine print they always mention that a UTPS (Unistim Terminal proxy Server) is required. In other words, you have to buy another piece of Nortel gear to get their phones to work in the real world. Avoid Nortel until they wake up and get standards compliant. Say... no chance that you could post your server code somewhere? We've got some i2004's kicking around doing nothing.... -----Original Message----- From: Carl Sempla [mailto:cas@accld.com] Sent: Monday, October 25, 2004 2:08 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Nortel Phones. I have a fully functional server able to handle such phones. If someone want to port my standalone code into asterisk, it would be great. -- Carl _______________________________________________ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Hi, I saw your messages related to the Nortel I 2004. I downloaded the code but I have some trouble with the installation, could you give me some more informations... The trick is that I cannot compile (the make). It must be because I didn't make the changes in db.c but after reading your doc, I don't get what I have to do ! Could you tell me which line I have to change and what do i have to put in there ? A sample would be appreciate... Thank you for your help David Masure -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
