I'm experiencing a very unusual problem with a few of my sipuras. They keep over heating after minimal usage. I unplug them and let them sit for 15 minutes and it starts working fine. The other way around is that I put a fan on it or something to keep it cooling. Has anyone else experienced this or are they just defective units? I had one that melted the casing and stopped working. Sipura replaced it. -----Original Message----- From: Mohammed Salim [mailto:msalim@ezzitel.com] Sent: Monday, September 27, 2004 11:05 PM To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' Subject: [Asterisk-Users] sipura over heat I'm experiencing a very unusual problem with a few of my sipuras. What model do you have SPA-2000 or 3000? I had SPA-3000 but after upgrading the firmware and uploading the configuration file I couldn't make it to work. I couldn't get any tech. support from Sipura or the reseller. #Joseph On Mon, 2004-09-27 at 22:05, Mohammed Salim wrote:> I?m experiencing a very unusual problem with a few of my sipuras. > They keep over heating after minimal usage. My spa3k has been running for about a month now and its only slightly warm to the touch. Do have some echo cancellation issues however.
My sipura also likes to play dead after a while. I suspect that it is heat related, but not sure. regards Clive On 28 Sep 2004 at 2:32, Rich Adamson wrote:> > I m experiencing a very unusual problem with a few of my sipuras. Mohammed, I have a SPA 2000. Has been plugged in and turned on for over one month. It is warm to the touch but only a few degrees above ambient temperature. Completely normal in other words. I would have to ask a few questions: 1) What type of phone are you plugging into it? Is it powered? Try a normal, unpowered phone and see what that does. Also make sure they're good quality phones not cheap sets. 2) What plug pack are you using to power the Sipura? Im using the standard switched mode 5v 2A pack. If your voltage is not 5V DC then i'd look at trying a different plug pack. 3) Is the mains power in your area of the world erratic? If you don't have a stable power supply company chances are you're going to run into problems with the plug pack and Sipura unit. 4) Is the Sipura set to default values for ring voltage etc? Im guessing that if you strain it too much in terms of ring voltage and talk voltage it may have problems. If all of the above is OK then it might be a faulty Sipura like the others have been jumping to as a conclusion. We have seen this symptom occur in about 3% of our SPA-2000 units. One in particular, I know was lying upside down for a couple of hours before it started happening for the first time, so I also believe it is heat related. Sipura has replaced the defective units. Hi Anyone having missed calls on BRIstuff? The CLI runs as if its playing a welcome message to the call, but the caller just hears ringing. This message I get on my CLI: == Primary D-Channel on span 2 down Sep 28 16:00:08 WARNING[213005]: chan_zap.c:1942 pri_find_dchan: No D-channels available! Using Primary on channel anyway 6! Clive, Maybe you can make an extensive debug, then we can see what happens. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've been reading this thread with interest: I'm using a clone X100P currently, and have some dropped calls and a little echo canncellation. I was thinking of "upgrading" to a TDM400 with 1xFXO and 1xFXS, but preferred the idea that the sipura would do echo cancellation better due to doing it in firmware. Is this not necessarily the case?
