You have left so many pieces of information out that we could spend a week asking you questions. You need to be upfront about hardware, software version, and occasionally phase of the moon during attempt to give us the proper information to help you. But as I think I have a working swamy hat here I'll try and answer your question. If I miss any points, you will then have been pre-warned to supply more information when asking questions. I am betting you have a X100P card. I'm betting you have not enabled progress detection. I'm betting you do not have disconnect supervision. All this combines to give you a simple problem that asterisk doesn't know when the line was hungup and continues to try and service it. You can fix the problem by either getting the correct service, configuring your system to fake disconnect functions, or set a timeout on the call as you enter the section that leaves voicemail so the time allowed in this section is appropriately short and asterisk will hang up afterwords. -- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

Hello Has anyone implemented a voicemail system for an existing cisco call manager express VOIP setup. I am looking for a open source based software which can integrate with my existing Cisco call manager express VOIP (based on 3640 router) with individual users having their own voicemail box. Is something different about the latest implementation of voicemail in asterisk? I have been away from asterisk for about 6 months and finally have a chance to take a second look at it. From what I remember all you needed to do to setup voicemail was to perform som basic modifications to the voicemail.conf and extensions.conf files. I am having two problems: 1. I can leave but cannot retrieve my voicemails. I call my extension number but cant find a combination that allows me to break into an admin menu for retrieval. 2. I could be dreaming but I thought I remember more advanced features available after leaving a VM. (Review, delete, etc.) I could be remembering incorrectly as well. Can anyone refresh my memory. (BTW - I'm using the latest stable build from today) Thanks, Chad

Hello All, We have VOIP running on Asterisk. We are having problems with voicemail. As in when a customer is having more than 1 phone numbers and he wants to check his mailbox when he dials in to check his voicemail it should pick the primary mailbox but it is picking up the wrong phone extension and verifying the primary mailbox password with that extension which gives an error password not verified. Help Appreciated Thank you,

> when a customer is > having more than 1 phone numbers and he wants to check his mailbox > when he dials in to check his voicemail it should pick the primary > mailbox but it is picking up the wrong phone extension and verifyingSounds like it uses the callerid extension as the mailbox. What you want for a global mailbox is to supply it in the Voicemail command as in u2000 or b2000 or s2000.

Hello: I'd like to expire the password for a voicemailbox the first time a user logs into their mailbox. I am using Asterisk 1.0.2. Is this possible? If so can someone share their thoughts? Thanks,Steve
I installed Asterisk Voicemail in an office and now most of the employees are complaining that when they're listening to the messages, it takes "forever" to listen to their messages. The reason being is that before the message is played, the voicemail says the full date and time when the message arrived and that takes a long time. It's like: Friday ......... June........20th......... 2000.......and.......5....... etc (you get the idea). Is there anyway to shorten that or even give users the option to not play that? Thanks, Waldo
