Hi I tried to install the * in my Radhat 7.3 machine. The "gmake" and "gmake install" went fine, but "gmake sample" gave me errors of "configs/*.adsi", "sounds/demo-*" and "sounds/*.mp3" errors. I created a dummy.adsi in the configs folder and commented out the "sounds/demo-*" and "sounds/*.mp3" in the Makefile to fool the "gmake samples" for a pass. But when I run the "safe_asterisk", I got the "Asterisk died with code 127" error. I am new to *. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Wen-wen PS. is there a web page to search the mail archives for this forum? _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? Hi Roy, When I run asterisk -gvvvc, it complains about some *.conf files not found (see the output in the end of the mail): logger.conf, manager.conf, rtp.conf, modules.conf, adsi.conf, musiconhold.conf, indications.conf, and modem.conf. My linux box does not have sound card and modem card. I had problems to run "gmake samples" as described in my previous email. Can I get default barebone sample conf files from somewhere to start, or I have to modify the Makefile in a specified way? Thanks. === Result of running asterisk -gvvvc ===[root@vivaldi asterisk]# ./asterisk -gvvvc == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf': Found Asterisk CVS-07/28/03-16:22:10, Copyright (C) 1999-2001 Linux Support Services, Inc. great! it works. I am now able to get the cli prompt with "asterisk -vvvcg" when i try to use "/usr/sbin/safe_asterisk" script to start, i still got the error of "Asterisk ended with exit status 127". I guess I can use the "asterisk -vvvcg" to start the server. but I would like to know why the "safe_asterisk" does not work. thanx. Here comes a newbi question. I have got a used Dell Optiplex GX240 P4 1.7 Ghz with 512 Ram. I have downloaded Asterisk@Home and burnt a bootable CD. But the Computer doesn't start the installation. What can be wrong? The computer is empty with anything on the harddrive. Is it something wrong with the CD or something else. Please help ANders -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/attachments/20050928/2e3bb193/attachment.htm
Actually with Optiplexes (Optipii?) they have a hidden partition on the HDD that runs the <F2> setup, if the HDD was formatted you're hooped for F2 setup. The key combination you are looking for is <ctrl><alt><f8> which allows you to manually specify boot media during POST before the OS starts loading. Be quick, 'cause these things boot fast. hth -----Original Message----- From: Cory Andrews [mailto:Cory@VOIPSupply.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 28, 2005 2:37 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Asterisk installation Try going into the BIOS and changing the boot order so your CD-Rom drive is first in the boot sequence. Make sure your IDE cable on the CDRom is not loose, and make sure it is jumpered properly as a slave on your primary IDE BUS, or master on your secondary IDE BUS. When you reboot, you should at least see the led light up on the CD-Rom and it should spin up, if it's doing both those things and still not booting, you probably have a bad CD, or a defective ROM Drive.
