Hi, I picked up a router with 8 voice ports that supports MGCP, but it has several options that I am not familiar with or do not seem apparent in the mgcp.conf. Enter the default IP address for the Notified Entity: [0.0.0.0] Enter the listening port of the Notified Entity: [2427] Enter the IP address for MGCP signalling (Data): [192.168.0.210] Enter the local port for MGCP signaling (Data): [2427] Enter option for using hostname with "[]" for Signaling: [N] Enter the TOS byte value to use for Signalling packets [1-7] : [7] Enter the IP address to use for RTP transport (Voice): [0.0.0.0] Enter the TOS byte value to use for RTP (Voice) packets [1-7] : [7] What values would these map to within mgcp.conf? I see mention of several of these in the chan_mgcp.c Thanks in advance. --
Hello, I'm just newbie and I'd like to ask you some newbie questions. 1. Can asterisk work as a call agent and media gateway in one (for example with one fxo card in pc) I assume when the answer is positive asterisk can work as a call agent alone or media gateway alone. 2. Where can I find some manuals for mgcp.conf 3. Is there someone who is using asterisk as a mg & ca in catv. Thanks, Arek Murzyn
Can you recomand me a good mgcp tutorial?
Best thing I can recommend is the rfc RFC3435 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrei Tanase" <slk@oltenia.tv> To: <asterisk-users@lists.digium.com> Sent: Monday, October 04, 2004 2:36 PM Subject: [Asterisk-Users] mgcp> Can you recomand me a good mgcp tutorial? > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users > To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users >
I haven't found any recent information on this, but can Asterisk act as a MGCP UserAgent? That solution degrades quality, increases delay, may have echo problems, etc. However, it's an easy way to get started, e.g. if you have a spare ATA-186 that you can load some MGCP firmware into. I am seeking a proper solution to the same problem, as my ISP in France, Free Telecom, bundles MGCP service at very aggressive rates (including free calls to fixed phones anywhere in France) with their ADSL service. I have looked at some SIP <-> MGCP and H.323 <-> MGCP gateways, but they only talk the Call Agent side of the protocol. If you have found a solution, please let me know. If not, perhaps we could work together to write one. One possibility is enhancing MGCP support in * to allow it to act as a User Agent. Another is a stand-alone script, e.g. in perl, that would do SIP <-> MGCP. I'd be open to other suggestions, too. Thanks, Stewart
The ILEC here is using VocalData for doing VoIP Centrex systems etc. My sales engineer preached SIP to me when he was talking about it, but I actually got a hold of an engineer today, and he told me they are using MGCP only for now. He seemed really interested in *, they are bringing out some demo units soon for us to beta-test for them and I told him I would show our * box to him. Maybe they might be interested in using MGCP with it, and would be willing to help out. I'll let you know. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Stewart Nelson Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 2004 11:55 PM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] MGCP>>> I haven't found any recent information on this, but can Asterisk >>> act as a MGCP UserAgent?>> I wish I was wrong, but I think right now MGCP in Asterisk isCallAgent>> only. >>http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20MGCP%20channels> Any other ideas for interacting with an MGCP provider? You could, of course, connect an MGCP ATA to FXO port(s) or device(s).
