I just got a Cisco ATA-186 that is marked with a "BOOTLOAD" label - from what I gather, it needs to load a new firmware image to get it up and running. The default setting is MGCP, but I would imagine that I want SIP to work with Asterisk. I registered at Cisco, but my without a service contract, I can't get access to the downloads from their site. I went through some past postings here - it seems that I'm not the first to encounter this. Does anyone have the 2.15 version of the firmware that has SIP and H.323 that can be sent to me or posted somewhere? Thanks, Art O'Dea
Call the Cisco TAC to purchase the firmware.. They might give it to you for free, especially since they had that vulnerability in their firmware, see: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/707/ata186-password-disclosure.shtml#fixes (that gives the number to the TAC.. I assume its a free upgrade) Thanks, Nathan On Sat, 22 Feb 2003, Art O'Dea wrote:> I just got a Cisco ATA-186 that is marked with a "BOOTLOAD" label - > from what I gather, it needs to load a new firmware image to get it up > and running. Hi, I had the same problem to upgrade my firmware. Iconnecthere lets you download one that supports sip just by dialing some numbers on your phone connected to your ATA. I don't know what I exactly did and I can't look it up for you as my Internet connection is down at the moment :( . Just go to iconnecthere.com and read the instructions on how to set up your ATA. If you have any further questions just contact me. But please don't expect a quick response as I'm offline at the moment... Good luck!
