Currently running two ATI 6870s in a 64-bit Windows 7 DomU. Best thing is, they''re working alright without any patches on xen-unstable. However, similar to what you have experienced, DomU cannot be restarted in this configuration. It can be fixed, but I haven''t got the time to get down to it. Regarding your problem with passing through the USB controller, have you tried it without the VGA passthrough patches? IMO it may not be related to the passthrough patches.> Best regards > Kom. >_______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel

Curiously, have you tried crossfire with these two 6870 cards? -Wei> Personally I''m having positive experiences with AMD cards. Currently > running two ATI 6870s in a 64-bit Windows 7 DomU. It hits me nearly every day (windows still likes to reboot after nearly every windows update, so...). Hello, I am not a developer, but am using this discussion as a guideline to getting PCI passthrough working on my system. I am trying to get a EVGA GTX480 SE passed through to the VM (Windows 7). Also I am considering arranging my system so that the NVIDIA card will be the secondary VGA interface, passed through to my DomU. The primary interface (on-board VGA) will be used for Dom0. I would like to ask if the current xen-unstable (24462) has the patches discussed here incorporated into it or will I still have to patch this version to get my NVDIA card passed through? Also, has anyone successfully passed the GTX480 through to a Windows or Linux DomU? Thanks and best regards Sandi -- View this message in context: http://xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/Patches-for-VGA-Passthrough-XEN-4-2-unstable-tp4406265p5124160.html Sent from the Xen - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
Forget about Windows 7. I didn''t see a single working solution to passthrough an nVidia card (at least not Quadro) to a win7 domu. However WindowsXP works almost painless. Just follow instructions and apply patches from D. Teacher on his website and everything should work just fine. http://www.davidgis.fr/blog/index.php?2011/12/07/860-xen-42unstable-patches-for-vga-pass-through -- View this message in context: http://xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/Patches-for-VGA-Passthrough-XEN-4-2-unstable-tp4406265p5124377.html Sent from the Xen - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
All informations given - by n4rc0tic - are right. For XP: nvidia should work For win7, you should be well-advised to use a ATI card.
