Digifonica Canada Limited is seeking a Software Release Engineer to join its Burnaby office. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Release Manager, the Software Release Engineer performs activities related to configuration engineering and the release of new products into the market. Coordinates initial design stages of new product and coordinates/facilitates post-design activities to ensure smooth product introduction. Acts as the liaison between the technical and operations teams for software roll outs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for: 1. Liaising between the R&D and Operations teams for software roll outs. 2. Organizing and implementing activities for configuration engineering that are related to product release. 3. Building and creating packages for staging and production releases. 4. Automating the build process to include configuration files and other packages required. 5. Altering server software packages (Apache, MVC, etc.) for quick easy roll out to the production servers. 6. Using scripting to make software roll out simple and error-free for the Operations team. 7. Double checking packages to make sure they are of good quality & are ready to be rolled out. 8. Other duties as assigned. Human Resource Management None at this time. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science an asset; post secondary credentials preferred. Previous Experience * 1 - 3 years technical experience in development or support roles * Experience with UNIX systems (specifically FreeBSD) a must, scripting (PHP, Perl, shell, makefile), major servers (Apache, MTA's), networking, version control (CVS or Subversion) and project management.
