I'm looking for a FreeBSD sysadmin who has experience of building highly resilient website infrastructure. I'm looking for someone with strong sysadmin skills and extensive experience of the "FreeBSD way" of doing things. An ISP background would be ideal but other enterprise level experience would be ok. The usual menagerie of admin skills are expected i.e. BIND, Postfix, Apache, Tomcat, Postgresql, Nagios, SNMP, TCP/IP etc. A dislike of PHP and MySQL would be considered a plus. Experience of network infrastructure management would be useful as would familiarity with ITIL practices. The ideal person would have been working in a high availability service environment for several years and who is active within the FreeBSD community. The team is based in Bath but we have an office in London so I might consider that as an option, though it would still require some reqular travelling to Bath. It would initially be for 2 months but a longer term role may become available. Java or other development experience would certainly be a bonus. Flexible on rate depending upon experience. The role is to design and then roll-out a new hardware infrastructure for a web hosting platform that is resilient, scalable and manageable using FreeBSD and other open source technologies as far as possible.
