I have another question, this time regarding XCP''s vm-checkpoint feature; how useful are these checkpoints for backup/recovery? It seems impossible to export a checkpoint to an xva, then import it and have it appear as a suspended VM. Would someone care to comment? -- View this message in context: http://xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/XCP-export-import-vm-checkpoint-tp3389342p3389342.html Sent from the Xen - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I think a decent explanation can be found here: http://www.andy-burton.co.uk/blog/index.php/2009-08/citrix-xenserver-automated-live-vm-backup-to-windows-cifs-share/ I think that is probably enough to get the conversation going and may be enough for you to put together a set of commands or a script that meets your needs. Thanks for the link, Todd, though I''m well aware how to take advantage of a scripted backup; I have, in fact, written my own script which is in production use at a a few customers, both XS- and XCP-based. I would like to know if it''s possible to replace vm-snapshot with vm-checkpoint. My tests suggest "no." The reason I ask is I would dearly love to find a substitute for vm-snapshot-with quiesce; as of XS 5.6 it plainly refuses to work. It appears xen-api is the proper place for me to ask for assistance in this regard, so I''ll do just that. -- View this message in context: http://xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/XCP-export-import-vm-checkpoint-tp3389342p3390779.html Sent from the Xen - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
