[Xen-users] XCP - Hetzner: Xen Cloud Platform XCP1.0Beta - Problems with network
Hi all, I''m using a Hetzner EQ8 with the ISO image of XCP1.0Beta version which can be found here <http://www.xen.org/products/cloudxen.html> Just to clarify, this is a complete distro, there is no underlying Linux OS, just this ISO. I know that Hetzner does NOT support bridged networking, but only routed. My problem is though, that I am not even able to get the server online No virtual machines are installed, this is a completely new installation and I have NOT modified anything. I''ve entered a static IP address in the management console. Why it''s not coming online I have no idea about My "ifconfig" states that "eth0" have NO ipadress. My "ifconfig" states that "xenbr0" have the external IP address of the server BOTH interfaces has the same MAC address AFAIK this is supposed to work, isn''t it? I tried following this<http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-enable-networking-in-xen-guests-on-hetzners-new-eq-servers-debian-lenny>guide, but that only works if you have an underlying distro installed, which I don''t. Please, is there someone able to assist? Thanks in advance Jim _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Solved, apparently Realtek network cards and XCP1.0 + Citrix Xenserver 5.6.1 FP1 does NOT like each other. When I installed 5.6.0 of Xenserver all was fine. 2011/2/11 Outback Dingo <outbackdingo@gmail.com>> > > On Fri, Feb 11, 2011 at 4:17 PM, Jimmy Larsen <itsnedkeren@gmail.com>wrote: > >> Hi all, >> >> I''m using a Hetzner EQ8 with the ISO image of XCP1.0Beta version which can >> be found here <http://www.xen.org/products/cloudxen.html> >> >> Just to clarify, this is a complete distro, there is no underlying Linux >> OS, just this ISO. >> > > Correct. > > >> >> I know that Hetzner does NOT support bridged networking, but only routed. > > >> My problem is though, that I am not even able to get the server online >> No virtual machines are installed, this is a completely new installation >> and I have NOT modified anything. >> >> I''ve entered a static IP address in the management console. >> >> Why it''s not coming online I have no idea about >> >> My "ifconfig" states that "eth0" have NO ipadress. >> My "ifconfig" states that "xenbr0" have the external IP address of the >> server >> BOTH interfaces has the same MAC address >> >> AFAIK this is supposed to work, isn''t it? >> >> I tried following this<http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-enable-networking-in-xen-guests-on-hetzners-new-eq-servers-debian-lenny>guide, but that only works if you have an underlying distro installed, which >> I don''t. >> >> Please, is there someone able to assist? >> >> Thanks in advance >> Jim >> _______________________________________________ >> Xen-users mailing list >> Xen-users@lists.xensource.com >> http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users >> > >_______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Re: [Xen-users] XCP - Hetzner: Xen Cloud Platform XCP1.0Beta - Problems with network
No, as it seems like XCP1.0beta is build upon the Citrix Xenserver 5.6.1 FP1 distro. 5.6.1 FP has Realtek NIC issues, with 5.6.0 all is running smooth. I''ve ordered and Intel NIC at my hosting provider and will be installing XCP1.0 in near future. I''ll write a follow up here as well. So let me understand this, you ordered same server specs from Hetzner with an intel card ? or another provider? Re: [Xen-users] XCP - Hetzner: Xen Cloud Platform XCP1.0Beta - Problems with network
I ordered a EQ8 server with Hetzner, all standard for 89€ a month. But unfortunatly the mainboard in the EQ8 utilizes a Realtek network card. Realtek network card and Xenserver 5.6.1 does not like each other! There fore I have now asked Hetzner to install a Intel network card in stead, which will be done next week. So hopefully I''ll get XCP1.0 up and running some time next week. BTW I really like Hetzner, they have good prices and competent and friendly staff, and a VERY good network with supreme uptime. The ONLY downside of Hetzner is that their provisioning staff only works from 8-16 and NOT on weekends :( So now I gotta wait 3 days for someone to install a Intel Network card, delaying my schedule by 3+ days :( But as some would say:"you get what you pay for", which is absolutely true! I could have rented a server with www.leaseweb.nl, and gotten 8GB LESS RAM, payed the double monthly amount, but also have 24/7 provisioning. So if you''re expanding into EU, the above mentioned 2 providers are the best IMHO, choose Hetzner for their well specced servers for a very GOOD price, and choose Leaseweb if you don''t mind paying double(or even triple) the amount, but also with faster and more available support. /Jim 2011/2/12 Outback Dingo <outbackdingo@gmail.com>> So let me understand this, you ordered same server specs from Hetzner with > an intel card ? or another provider?
