its built for rhel3 and such, not for fedora if you want to use fedora you ll have to download source and build it yourself On Mon, Nov 29, 2004 at 10:29:43AM +1100, Han Xie wrote:> Hi, > > When I tried to install the ocfs2 on a brand new Fedora core 3, it failed with: > > root@linacle ocfs2]# rpm -ivh ocfs2-support-0.99.0-1.i386.rpm > Preparing... ########################################### [100%] > 1:ocfs2-support ########################################### [100%] > Checking for Red Hat enterprise kernel: [FAILED] > error: %post(ocfs2-support-0.99.0-1.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 1 > > What went wrong please? > > Thanks in advance. > Han> _______________________________________________ > Ocfs2-users mailing list > Ocfs2-users@oss.oracle.com > http://oss.oracle.com/mailman/listinfo/ocfs2-users
Thanks a lot for the reply, Wim. Do you know if any one has successfully tried it on FC3 before? Is it a straight forward process or requires a bit fiddling? As FC3 will be popular soon, is there any plan to support it, or a white paper or instruction on how to do it on FC3 please? I am looking forward to your book, do you know when it will be out please? Regards. Hi Wim, I download the source. Are the BASE_VER and BASE_STR in the file ./vendor/redhat/ocfs.init the only things need to change please? Thanks in advance. Just use load_ocfs2 to load the module. -Manish> -----Original Message----- > From: Han Xie > Sent: Monday, 29 November 2004 12:05 PM > To: 'wim.coekaerts@oracle.com' > Cc: ocfs2-users@oss.oracle.com > Subject: RE: [Ocfs2-users] ocfs2 failed on Fedora core 3 > > > Thanks a lot for the reply, Wim. Hi Joel, It is a new area to me, I need you to clarify a few things for me please. I download 3 packages, ocfs2 plus its tools and support. I first tried to install support, and it failed: root@linacle ocfs2]# rpm -ivh ocfs2-support-0.99.0-1.i386.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:ocfs2-support ########################################### [100%] Checking for Red Hat enterprise kernel: [FAILED] error: %post(ocfs2-support-0.99.0-1.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 1 Is there anything else I should do before I try your suggestion "to put the module in the proper module path (somewhere in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers) and run depmod -a."? Which module do you mean please? Is it ocfs2-2.4.21-EL-0.99.2-1.i686.rpm? Do I put this file here, and install from here will be fine? In /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers, there are many sub-directories, do I need to create a sub-directory? What will "depmod -a" do here? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks in advance and kind regards.
