[Gluster-users] Editing text files on NFS mounted volumes
Hello list- I have a strange problem opening text files on NFS mounted volumes with certain text editors. With nedit and gedit I get the error "Could not open file" or similar, and kwrite just show an empty file. Other editors such as emacs, vi, mousepad (XFCE4 desktop) and kedit (simple KDE editor) work fine. The problem is that nedit, gedit and kwrite are the ones most people want to use. None of the editors have any problems opening files on native GlusterFS mounts, but I only use the GlusterFS client on our compute servers and I don't want to have to install it on all the office PCs. Does anybody know why this problem occurs with NFS or how to stop it? -Dan.

[Gluster-users] [SPAM?] Editing text files on NFS mounted volumes
Do you know if the nedit, gedit and kwrite editors use extended file system attributes? Could it be some kind of collision with GlusterFS using the same ones? Just a shot in the dark. Try catting a file from the shell. I'd like to see the error message printed by a shell tool to see whats going on. Thanks.
