You need the symbol.ttf installed.  Copy this file from MS Windows, or try to
find it out on the net.  Put it in the drive_c/windows/font directory.

I found symbol.ttf (SymbolMT) out on the net, but it would not work until I
opened the font file with a font editing program, fontforge, and regenerated the
symbol.ttf font as a TrueType(symbol) font.  Then all was pleasant.
