Hi ive been using shorewall for a while now , and since i was busy i stick along the 1.4.X , but now im on vacation so i decided to move to 2.0.X . My system is a debian but im installing from tgz. Latest shorewall was 1.4.9 and now im at 2.0.7. So i upgrade the version, minor prob, it ask me for then file /etc/default/shorewall. It seem its for user using .deb but anyway i create it ,change startup to 1. The firewall start & stop ... BUT ... all i see now is : HOST:/etc/default# /etc/init.d/shorewall restart Restarting "Shorewall firewall": done. HOST:/etc/default# i dont see the rules go by like it used to do, is this normal from version 2.0 ? is there a way to see them fly on the screen when i start/restart shorewall , like it use to be ??? thx in advance

You can do like the rest of the world does and use /sbin/shorewall rather than /etc/init.d/shorewall when you are starting/restarting Shorewall manually. Since /sbin is usually on root''s path, you can simply type: shorewall restart You can also read /etc/init.d/shorewall and figure out how to disable it''s logging if you simply must see the output from that script... -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net
