wine users - Apr 2004 - Office 2000 Question

	Hello all.

	I just recently started using Linux as my primary OS and have just
started playing with Wine in order to help ease the transition (so I can
still use Word a few other apps).
	I'm having trouble installing Office 2000, and I was hoping someone
could help out.  I've read around, Frank's World included, and have
limited success getting things to work.
	First I tried Frank's suggestion using the Portage Wine version in
Gentoo (200401??).  The install created errors at about 85%, but the
applications ran alright.  I was most happy.
	Now, however, I am trying to get Office 2000 to work with WineX 3.3.1.
~ Instead of crashing at 85% (roughly), it just hangs.  If I abort the
install, the programs don't work.
	I know this isn't exactly the right place for WineX questions, but
since the two problems appear to be at least slightly related I was
hoping someone might have some insight they could share.

This list is for wine support only. First of all, try openoffice, you can should
have it on your linux CDs. If not, see www.openoffice.org
Office 2000 does work on wine, so if you really can't replace it with
Openoffice
for some reason, just download and install wine-20040408 and if you have any
problems post them on this list.
