Free WineX 3.3 binary RPMs have been released at http://www003.portalis.it/115/ For Linux Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSe and Fedora Core, and compatible distributions, source also available. Ivan.
What? Why are they doing this? Isn't WineX a commercial (read: not-free-as-in-beer) product? > What? Why are they doing this?Because otherwise people will look for a pirated copy of the commercial binary Isn't WineX a commercial (read:> not-free-as-in-beer) product?NO. It is not a not-free-as-in-beer product. If you look at the TransGaming download page http://www.transgaming.com/download.php you'll see that the CVS version can be downloaded for free. If you also read the license http://www.transgaming.com/license.php?source=1 you'll see that binary RPMs can be built and distributed free of charge. Have a nice day. Ivan.

I end up with a 1K file. Can you check the link? Thanks, Rick Knight (rick@rlknight.com)

> With the license comes a request not to redistribute > compiled binaries the way as this is done here. > > In other words, this is ordinary warez spam. The license on the web site doesn't prohibit redistribution, I even asked TransGaming if I could do this, I got an answer from their CEO, saying that they aren't happy about binary packages being released on the net, but from the legal/contractual point of view, they do allow this, and it is perfectly legal. If you thing this is spam/shit whatever, feel free to report me to TransGaming (Wait a second, they know my web site, I told them about it), The next time, read the dam license agreement before writing this bullshit. Ivan.
I would gladly buy COO if I had, y'know, money. :) On Wed, 7 Apr 2004, Rein Klazes wrote:> On Wed, 7 Apr 2004 12:01:33 -0400 (EDT), you wrote: > > > And because Wine is LGPLed, couldn't someone in theory repackage > > CrossOver's forked WINE source and release packages? > > Yes. It is still not COO: not the install scripts and not the excellent support. It is also not Wine: you will miss the latest additions and you don't have any support from here either (I don't know COO wine as I know Wine). I would say, go for the latest Wine. If you need COO, support both them and Wine by buying a copy. Rein. -- Rein Klazes rklazes@xs4all.nl
