Puppet users - Oct 2014 - how to set up different groups on puppet open source

H all.
does anybody know how to create different groups of servers on the
puppet master? I managed to create the node default but I d like to
create different groups of servers for different purpose (e .g
dev,test,prod) then different set up for each group.

Any clue/docs?
