Assistant/Associate Professor of Biometry Department of Crop Sciences College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences University of Illinois at Urbana ? Champaign The Department of Crop Sciences is seeking candidates for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Statistics. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous, externally funded, and nationally recognized research program with relevance to biometry, biostatistics, biology, crop, soil or plant science, or a related area. The University of Illinois has a long tradition in statistics, biometry and quantitative biology and is home to world-class computational resources including the National Center for Supercomputer Applications and Blue Waters, currently the fastest supercomputer available in public sector research. Teaching responsibilities will include an undergraduate/graduate level course in applied linear models and introductory statistics (CPSC 440), which is taught each fall and spring semester. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an additional quantitative course (for example spatial statistics, Bayesian analysis, survival analysis), taught once per year. For appointment at the Associate rank, the candidate must exhibit a very strong record of independent scholarship that includes credentials meeting the standards required for promotion at the University of Illinois. Such credentials include national and/or international recognition and impact in research and teaching with clear evidence of obtaining competitive funding, initiating, completing, and publishing the results of successful projects. An earned PhD degree in statistics, crop sciences, biology, agronomy, plant science, soil science, or a closely related field is required. Post-doctoral experience is desired. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, and teaching experience is an advantage. This is a 9-month, 100% time, academic, tenure-track position with opportunity for summer appointment.
