Thomas, I don''t know if you finally said something to Sam, or if he''s just been laughing in the background while we wait (im)patiently for this update, but it''s finally here: http://encytemedia.com/blog/articles/2006/08/30/a-flurry-of-prototype-updates... so thanks for your involvement (you at least had a hand in it I''m sure). Very cool, and with that said, I want to get my EventPublisher class (attached) submitted into one of the two libs (proto or scripty)... but I guess I''m not sure which is the best fit. I get a lot of requests from people about it so I think it''s high time I get it (or try to get it) officially included in _something_ -- so Thomas, where in your opinion do you think I should submit it? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Spinoffs" group. 1.4 is the "stable" version, whereas "1.5" is a release candidate (although considered perfectly stable). the changes are in the SVN repository. best, thomas Am 31.08.2006 um 09:13 schrieb Jean-Philippe Encausse:> >> http://encytemedia.com/blog/articles/2006/08/30/a-flurry-of- >> prototype-updates > > Hi, > Is it a patch or a new version of prototype ? Ok, let me try again... Thomas, does it make more sense for me submit EventPublisher to scriptaculous or to prototype? I''d almost prefer scriptaculous because it has way more developer activity on the patch and revision side of things. But, I''m still waiting to hear what you think... Re: Hooray for Prototype + I want to submit a patch (finally)
Does that mean Element.cleanWhitespace has been fixed? The last version of 1.5 I tried, it didn''t work at all on IE 6. It was trying to call Element.extend on text nodes, and IE 6 doesn''t allow you to add functions to text nodes, or something along those lines. Re: Hooray for Prototype + I want to submit a patch (finally)
Ryan: I had a discussion with Sam and he has something up his slieve that is kinda-like EventPublisher, but I can''t say if and when this will get added to Prototype. So I''m a bit reluctant to add something to script.aculo.us now, that might collide with functionality in Prototype. I''d say either A) make it public yourself, or B) wait until that is clarified. Ok, sounds good. I guess I''ll wait it out, maybe make it public for now from my blog. Let me know what comes out of it though, if Sam doesn''t want to have to re-create the wheel, he''s more than welcome to use EventPublisher and I''ll help with patching/testing...
