[Puppet Users] Puppet Updates: Puppet Camp and random bits
Puppeteers, *PuppetCamp is set for Oct 1-2 at SFSU.* This is a highlight of what we have planned for sure so far... - Q&A workshop with Luke (w/ me and Teyo singing back up) - James Turnbull discussing Puppet development workflow and git - Paul Nasrat talking about Facter development - A hackfest (with at least some focus on making a run at windows support) The program is coming together, but there is still an opportunity to present your work and ideas. Just send me a short description of a case study, demo, presentation and I''ll shuffle it into the mix. We are also planning a few blocks for open discussions. Nothing is set in stone at this point and you all have the opportunity to make this an event you want to attend. The program should be accessible and beneficial to people of all levels of experience and backgrounds. This is a chance to come together to swap notes and techniques with Luke and some of the most knowledgeable people in the community. We''re still looking at sponsorships and pricing options for the catering, and haven''t set a price, but my goal is to make the camp affordable. (a marginal cost compared to travel and lodging for anyone coming from out of town.) This is the recommended lodging link from the facility: http://www.sfsu.edu/~meetings/lodging.htm (I think James mentioned he is staying at the Serrano.) *Puppet Training* Teyo has training coming up in New York on the 27th of July and then August 31st in Salt Lake City. These are 3 day trainings perfect for intermediate to beginners. For more information and registration: http://reductivelabs.com/training/ *0.25* The release candidate is being tested pretty well. There is a last group of tickets to close before this is the stable release, light at the end of the tunnel. *More Random Bits* In a 6 week stretch we had Teyo in Belgium, London, New York and Portland, we did 4 talks at 4 conferences between us, closed a round of funding, and Luke moved across the country. The whole thing has been a bit of a blur, but there are some exciting things in the works... We''ll keep you apprised. Reductive Labs P.S. Let me know if you would be interested in writing an article or case study for a newsletter. [Puppet Users] Re: Puppet Updates: Puppet Camp and random bits
Hi Andrew, I''m really interested in joining, and if possible I would like to discuss/present the following topics: * How Puppet helped us to standardize, communicate and work together with many admins in many locations ( we have at least 15 different data centers, with thousands of servers) * Show/promote our in House web application that manages the lifecycle of puppet manged machines (we are now working on an "open source" version based on our existing system). Thanks, Ohad On Tue, Jul 14, 2009 at 3:23 PM, Andrew Shafer <andrew@reductivelabs.com>wrote:> > Puppeteers, > > *PuppetCamp is set for Oct 1-2 at SFSU.* > > This is a highlight of what we have planned for sure so far... > > - Q&A workshop with Luke (w/ me and Teyo singing back up) > - James Turnbull discussing Puppet development workflow and git > - Paul Nasrat talking about Facter development > - A hackfest (with at least some focus on making a run at windows > support) > > The program is coming together, but there is still an opportunity to > present your work and ideas. I''m convinced process and social engineering are the biggest thing people need to do to leverage tools, love to hear a before and after story.> * Show/promote our in House web application that manages the lifecycle of > puppet manged machines (we are now working on an "open source" version based > on our existing system). >Demos are always nice. You should be able to do both. We look forward to seeing you. [Puppet Users] Re: Puppet Updates: Puppet Camp and random bits
Fernando, There isn''t an open registration yet. If you need any material to help get buy-in, I''m trying to put some stuff together. (but I''d love to have more people step up and say ''I would love to see X'') There should be something more formal for registration around the first week of August. (gives us about 2 months) Thanks, Andrew On Tue, Jul 14, 2009 at 10:35 AM, Fernando Padilla <fern@alum.mit.edu>wrote:> > how do we sign-up or register for the camp? or are further details > coming. :) > > Andrew Shafer wrote: > > > > Puppeteers, > > > > *PuppetCamp is set for Oct 1-2 at SFSU.* > > > > This is a highlight of what we have planned for sure so far... > > > > * Q&A workshop with Luke (w/ me and Teyo singing back up) > > * James Turnbull discussing Puppet development workflow and git > > * Paul Nasrat talking about Facter development > > * A hackfest (with at least some focus on making a run at windows > > support) > > > > The program is coming together, but there is still an opportunity to > > present your work and ideas. There must be tons of non-obvious ways of getting puppet to manage tricky or difficult resources... -Ben --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Well, I live in the city, so not a big thing to be a part of it. At the moment I''m just a Puppet newbie, but my desire is Ec2 setups, best practices, etc. But overall, I hope Puppet will just be a thing we focus on hard, but then hopefully it''ll be mostly invisible.. :) At the moment I''m setting up scripts for me to help me bring online a puppet master and puppet clients in Ec2, I could definitely share those after I''m done.. they might even be worth a quick presentation.. who knows. :) Andrew Shafer wrote:> > Fernando, > > There isn''t an open registration yet. > > If you need any material to help get buy-in, I''m trying to put some > stuff together.
