The current release of Lustre uses the same security model as NFS, namely
that the client machines that are trusted to connect to the server are
trusted to not be compromised, so the user IDs on the clients are used
directly. As such, there is no concept of a Lustre "user" separate
from
the client authentication methods (e.g. NIS, /etc/passwd, etc).
Work is underway to implement proper Kerberos security in a later release
of Lustre.
