Ok, let me know ... I am just barely able to program in Ruby+C.
Haven''t learnt all the tricks yet, so I cannot do much by way of fixing
things ...
but I will get there one of these days. I want to be of more help than just
do beta-testing.

It turns out I was doing something stupid with regards to Dir.chdir in 
testing, which appears to be the reason it was failing.

It seems to work now.  Hooray!
