Hi, just got an Epson Perfection 1260 scanner which is supported according to sane, but decides not to scan, even though the lamp is switched on and the stepper motor makes one step, if scanimage is started. sane-find-scanner says: found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x011d) at /dev/uscanner0 scanimage -L says: device `plustek:/dev/uscanner0' is a Epson Perfection 1260/Photo USB flatbed scanner scanimage -vv > image.pnm says: scanimage: scanning image of size 248x150 pixels at 24 bits/pixel scanimage: acquiring RGB frame scanimage: min/max graylevel value = 255/0 scanimage: sane_read: Error during device I/O Closing device Calling sane_exit scanimage: finished FreeBSD is 4.8-STABLE from today. sane: sane-backends-1.0.12_1 sane-frontends-1.0.9 xsane-0.90 dmesg: uscanner0: EPSON EPSON Scanner, rev 1.10/1.00, addr 2 Anything else I could look into? It should say epson: Did you edit /usr/local/etc/sane.d/plustek.conf to add /dev/uscanner0 to it? Don't. :) Do that to /usr/local/etc/sane.d/epson.conf instead. -- Barney Wolff http://www.databus.com/bwresume.pdf I'm available by contract or FT, in the NYC metro area or via the 'Net.
