Puppet users - Dec 2007 - last version of puppetd that will work with ruby 1.6.8 (RHEL3)

Hello...

What is the last version of puppet that will work with ruby version
1.6.8?  I have a few RHEL 3 machines I would like to run puppetd (only
the client, not puppetmaster).  They will be updated to RHEL 5 fairly
soon, so I don''t want to spend a lot of time trying to get a more
recent
version of ruby on them.

I now have puppetmaster + mongrel on FreeBSD and puppetd on all the
other linux and xBSD servers.

I don''t know of anybody who has tried that. What most people do is
rebuild a newer ruby (e.g. the one from RHEL4) and installing that on
RHEL3 machines.

its quite easy to upgrade the ruby on rhe3, as long as you don''t care
about
"breaking" rh certification...

download the srpm for ruby for rhe4.
rpm -i ruby-srpm
cd /usr/redhat/SPECS
rpmbuild -bb ruby.spec
(compiling...)

and you are done, now go and install this ruby package on all of your rhe3
machines....
